Crying Moment

Today I was walking out of Wal-Mart (Here I go again with Wal-Mart junk) because I had just clocked off from work. I was battling my almost daily battle to not impulsively buy something I would regret later or that just served my selfish needs or desires when I was suddenly hit by all the terrible things in the world. I was crying by the time I got out of Wal-Mart and one girl was looking at me weird. Can’t I cry because of starving babies in Africa, families that can’t afford their kids in Haiti, rape as a common occurance in Darfur, aborted Chinese girls, aborted babies of any sort in America, and the list goes on and on.

I think we should all have a moment like that. As Christians we are not called to focus on ourselves and our selfish desire but to focus on God and to bringing his kingdom glory. We are not bringing God’s kingdom glory when we focus on ourselves and buy things, curse our brothers, steal, adulter, hate, and ignore what is going on in the world. I think we all need to take a moment and feel what’s going on around us. We need to see just a glimpse of the sadness that God feels about what his people have done and are doing. We need to reflect on our own hipocrisy and to realize God has called us to be lights in this world. Light in the darkness. Light that can only be gained from God and the strength to keep it lit is from God. Focus on God and his desires and not our own for just a moment and see if you don’t cry. See if you don’t realize that you have been called, just as I, to be a light.
